About Fanny
Fanny Texier is an award-winning documentary filmmaker born in Paris and based in Brooklyn. Her latest short documentary, A WOMAN’S PLACE IS EVERYWHERE, which she directed, filmed, and edited, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and won the Silver Bear Jury Prize. Her film also won the Oscar-qualifying Grand Jury Prize at AFI Fest, and screened at the New York Film Festival and IDFA.
As a highly sensitive storyteller, Fanny is drawn to intimate and unusual stories, particularly those of women and individuals underrepresented in traditional media. Specializing in vérité filmmaking, her experience as an editor deeply informs how she frames her cinematography: it’s her superpower.
Her work has been presented by platforms including HBO, Netflix, The New Yorker, the BBC and Showtime. She recently participated in the Film at Lincoln Center Artists Academy and the newportFILM lab to develop her debut feature-length documentary.
Fanny studied journalism at the University of Montreal and earned a Master’s degree from La Sorbonne University in Paris.
